To promote your Web site on the Internet, you should enter concise and explicit content in the Meta data area for your Web pages. Search engines use this information when listing Web sites in search results.
If you enter information in the Keywords text box, WebSite Tonight creates a Meta tag for Keywords. You can create custom Meta tags if you want to include additional information. For more information, see Creating, Editing, and Deleting Custom Meta Tags.
To Set Page Properties
- Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
- From the Design menu, select Page Designer .
- If necessary, from the You are editing list, select the page you want to edit.
- Click Show Properties . (Located on the upper right corner of the screen.
- (Optional) Edit the following:
- In the Browser Title, Heading Title, and Button Title fields, edit the titles.
- In the Filename field, edit the file name.
- (Optional) In the Meta Tags area, you can complete the following:
- In the Description field, enter a detailed overview of your Web site. The description displays with your Web site title and URL in search engine listings. You may want to include topics covered in the content, the Web site name, company name, tag line, etc.
- In the Keywords field, enter keywords for your Web site. You may want to use words or phrases that Internet users might use to search for your site. You may want to include the topic of your Web site or selected page, Web site name, company name, or other related terms. Keywords should be separated by a comma.
- To create a custom Meta tag, click Add Meta Tag, enter the name of the tag, enter keywords, and then click Apply. For more information, see Creating, Editing, and Deleting Custom Meta Tags.
- In the Sitemap Details area, you can set options that help Google® determine how often to check your site by specifying the following:
- In the Change Frequency area, indicate the frequency with which you update the page. This tells search engines how often they should crawl your site for updates.
- In the Priority area, select a priority level for the page. Priority tells search engines how important a page is relative to the other pages on your site. Changing priority does not affect how often a page is crawled by search engines. Priority can be a number between 0.1 and 1.0 with 0.1 being the lowest and 1.0 being the highest. Your most important page should be a 1.0.
- In the Enter JavaScript field, enter the javascript you want to use in the page header.
- Click OK.
