What is the process for registering .me domains?

To register a .me domain, you submit an application during the appropriate timeframe, which depends on whether you own a trademark or service mark for the domain. For more information, see Completing Applications for .me Domains.
The process for the Sunrise period is:
- Complete your application, which includes Domain Name, Trademark Name, Trademark Number, Date Trademark Applied for, Date Trademark Registered, and Trademark Country.
- Submit your application during the appropriate timeframe, April 21, 2017 to May 20, 2008. There are no charges for submitting an application, but there is a five-year minimum registration for domains you apply for during the Sunrise period. You can register the domain for up to ten years.
- We review applications after the Sunrise period ends to verify whether you submitted the appropriate documentation. We reject applications if you do not have a current registered trademark or servicemark that corresponds to the domain, the words in the domain do not match the text in the trademark or service mark, the trademark or service mark isn't nationally recognized within the country where it's registered, or the trademark or service mark was not registered or applied for prior to June 28, 2006.
- We automatically award the domains for which we only received one application and the application included the appropriate documentation. If we received multiple requests for the same domain, we auction the domain between the applicants and award it to the highest bidder.
The process for the Landrush period is:
- Complete your application and submit it during the appropriate timeframe, May 1, 2017 to June 26, 2008. There are no charges for submitting an application, but there is a two-year minimum registration for domains you apply for during the Landrush period. You can register the domain for up to ten years.
- We automatically award the domains for which we only received one application. If we received multiple requests for the same domain, we auction the domain between the applicants and award it to the highest bidder.
There are no restrictions to registering domains after the GoLive period, July 17, 2008.
Domain names can be up to 63 characters, with a minimum of three characters, can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and single hyphens (except at the beginning, end, third, or fourth character in the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters.
